We support our existing and potential customers in several different ways. Product updates are generally free of charge, and there are various options for contacting us and keeping up with the latest product news. This page is a jumping-off point to the rest of our support-related pages.
Knowledge Base & Common Support Questions
Sometimes called an FAQ (for Frequently Asked Questions), this database is updated frequently with questions and problems encountered by our users that are of general interest. If you have a question or other issue, look at these pages first to see if it has already been answered.
Product Documentation
Our product documentation is easy to understand, with numerous screenshots of both the PC and handheld applications, and descriptions of the available options. The documentation for GedStar Pro can be browsed online, and all documents are also available for you to download to your PC and view using the Adobe Acrobat™ Reader.

Updates and Other Downloads
Since product version upgrades are free of charge, you should always be running the latest version of your product before reporting a problem. Chances are, it might have been fixed in a later version. Check the Product Download pages to make sure that you have the latest version.
To fix minor problems in between major version releases, we sometime issue special product updates. These will have version numbers followed by a letter, such as V3.1b. You can check the Product Update page to see if there are any special updates to the current product versions.
Mailing Lists
Technical questions and issues of general interest can be discussed on our Mailing Lists, powered by Yahoo Groups. There is also a list for receiving periodic newsletters and other product announcements. Subscribe to be sure that you stay up-to-date with the latest software.
Contact Form and Email
If you need to contact us for help with a problem, we are always very responsive to your email messages. The preferred way to make contact is by using the Contact Form page, as this message is guaranteed to get through to us.
If you prefer direct email, you can use the link below or the one in the sidebar. Please remember to do the following:
- Use "GedStar" somewhere in your message subject to make sure you get past the spam filters (we get about 95% spam in our inbox!).
- Make sure to say exactly which product you are using and the version number.
- Describe your problem clearly and completely.
- Attach your latest conversion log file. This is a file in your C:\Program Files\GedStar Pro directory that has a file type of ".log".
