I get an error during a GEDCOM conversion, or it does not convert all my data.
Make sure that you use the correct settings in your genealogy program when exporting the GEDCOM file: it must be in GEDCOM 5.5 format, with ANSEL encoding and Abbreviated Tags.
The conversion did not go as I expected. How do I find more information?
There is a log file created in the GedStar Pro installation directory (usually C:\Program Files\GedStar Pro). This file has the same name as your database and a type of ".log". You can open it with Notepad and there might be more information about the error. This file should also be attached to any email messages that you send to our support address.
My converted database did not get synced to my handheld. Is there a way to transfer it without redoing the conversion?
Run the installer program that came with your handheld's software package. It is usually called "Install" or "Quick Install" under the "Palm Desktop" group. Click the "Add" button and navigate to the GedStar Pro install directory (usually C:\Program Files\GedStar Pro). You will see your converted database(s) there as files with a type of ".pdb". Find the one that you want to transfer and select it.
I lost my registration code.

Can I upgrade from GedStar to GedStar Pro?
Yes. If you have your original GedStar or GedStar-Plus registration password, you can use the special upgrade form in the Store section of this site to purchase GedStar Pro from us at a discounted price.
