Products for Other Platforms

GHCS products currently support only the PalmOS™ operating system that has powered handhelds ranging from the original Palm Pilot up to today's latest PDAs and smartphones. Brands that use this operating system have been available from several companies including Palm, PalmOne, Sony, Garmin, and Handspring.

However, there are similar-looking handhelds that run on other operating systems, and our products will not run on those platforms. The following are our recommendations for products to use if you already own a device that is not compatible with our product line.

Microsoft Products

Microsoft has had a competing handheld operating system for quite a while, but it has appeared under several different names, including Windows CE, PocketPC, Windows Mobile, and Windows Phone Edition. Common brands for these devices include Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and Compaq. Palm, Inc. actually makes a smartphone — the Treo 700W — that uses this operating system.

Our recommendation for a suitable product is Pocket Genealogist by Northern Hills Software.
