We are developing methods to make transferring data files from your PC to your Android device easier and more transparent than the current method that requires a USB connection to your PC. If you have V1.7.1 or later of the Android app installed, then you should be able to use the following method to transfer your files wirelessly over your Internet connection by using the available Dropbox third-party solution.
This method requires that you have a Dropbox account and that you install the Dropbox software on both your PC and your Android device. Dropbox is free to use for up to 2Gb (gigabytes) of file storage, and is a very useful service for many other types of documents, files, photos, etc.
The easiest way to get your converted data into your Dropbox is to let GedStar do it automatically for you. Just check the Copy output file to Dropbox folder option on the main page of the conversion dialog. It will then almost immediately become available for downloading to your phone or tablet!
If you would rather use a manual procedure, do the following:
The database file should appear in your Dropbox folder and will be automatically uploaded to the Dropbox web site.
Getting your file onto your Android device is even easier:
The file will then be downloaded from your Dropbox account. GedStar Pro will automatically be launched and will copy the file to its standard directory on the SD card and display it for viewing. And that's it!
Note 1: When GedStar Pro copies the file to its own directory, it deletes it from the directory used by the Dropbox app. Only one copy of the file remains on your device. If a database file with the same name already exists in the GedStar Pro directory, it is replaced with the new one.
Note 2: Depending on how recently you were using GedStar Pro on your Android device, you might end up with two instances of it running. If this happens, you might have to use the standard menu Select Data File option to view your data.
Unfortunately, the update to the Dropbox app V2.0 appears to have "broken" the above automatic method for downloading and launching GedStar Pro. Until this technical issue is resolved, we have noted the following two methods for getting your file into the correct place from Dropbox.
In Dropbox V2, there is the option to Export a file to a folder in SD storage. You can access this by the following steps:
The following screen shots illustrate this procedure:

NOTE: It is possible that you may get a Force Close error (crash) the first time you run GedStar Pro after following this procedure. Until we fix this issue, you can just run it again and it will work normally.
This may vary in detail depending on your device and Android version, but the idea is to use your Dropbox account from a browser instead of from the Dropbox app.
The following are some screens that illustrate this using the standard browser on Android V2.2. Your screens may differ.
